Cats!

This illustration reminds me of doodling in the back of my exercise books in high school with gel pens. Did anyone else used to collect those? Well, this is just inspired by how much I love kittens, but I'm sadly not allowed one in my apartment! I hope you all had a great Christmas. xxx

Just a little something to say Happy Christmas to all of my followers! I really appreciate all of your nice words and comments on my blog during the year, and I hope you will continue to follow! Enjoy your day wherever you are.

Blogs I like: effiesmakeupbox

If you haven't already seen Heather's blog, then I would thoroughly recommend popping over and checking it out. She blogs about all sorts ranging from fashion to nail art and her outfit posts are always spot on. She also has the most amazing hair! Heather also runs her own shop which sells false nails that she has designed and painted herself, and you can find that here

Blogs I like: The London Lipgloss

I'm sure many of your are familiar with Zoe's awesome blog - The London Lipgloss, if not please check it out. Zoe is a multi-talented lady, she even DJ's in her spare time! Her blog is a mixture of lifestyle and beauty, and she always has the most awesome hair. I decided to draw up this illustration today to send over to her because I honestly think hers is one of the best blog's around at the moment.
I hope you all like it! xxx

Oh Hell #2

A little while ago you may remember that I posted about a clothing brand based in Afflecks Palace, Manchester. Well, I like Oh Hell so much that I decided to dedicate another illustration to them. If you haven't heard of them before, they make loads of cool and quirky t-shirts and sweaters - they have even have some snuggly winter beanies available. If you want to check them out, you can visit their online store here

Ginny

Here is another one of my Harry Potter drawings - this time it is Ginny Weasley. She was pretty fun to draw and I think she always had lovely hairstyles in the films, this one is particularly inspired by The Chamber of Secrets. Thanks for all of your comments on my recent posts, I really enjoy reading all of your feedback.

Aurora

This is just something fun inspired by Princess Aurora's tiara in Sleeping Beauty. I really like using card and paper for the backgrounds lately. I added a heart like I do on the majority of my drawings lately - I like there to be a little continuity.

Hermione

Hermione is probably one of my favourite Harry Potter characters. This illustration is particularly inspired by Emma Watson in the Half Blood Prince. I hope you all like it, and if you have any characters you would like me to draw then feel free to leave a comment.

Ladybird

This is just something fun I finished a few days ago. The band is completely made up (as far as I know) but I thought it would be pretty cute!

Fleece Bunny

I have no idea where the inspiration for this one came from, I just really like rabbit's lately it seems. I decided to throw a few carrots in there as well!

Rogue's kitten.

This would be another cool idea for a Halloween costume. This is inspired by the character of Rogue from X-Men (who I really love) but I decided she needed a little feline familiar seeing as it's Halloween.

I hope you all have a fun evening if you have special plans!

Mermaid Luna

Well, this is fairly weird, but seeing as it's almost Halloween I thought it would be appropriate! I think Luna would be an awesome idea for a Halloween costume, especially with the lion headpiece.

Do you guys have any plans for Halloween night?

The Liebster Award

A couple of days ago Imogen got in touch with me and said she had nominated my blog for the Liebster Award. If you haven't already visited Miss Imogen Smith's blog, then I would really recommend it! She has a lovely blog which showcases crafts, illustration, and lifestyle posts.

Here are the rules for receiving this award:
1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves.
2. Answer the questions that the nominator set for you plus create 11 questions for the people you’ve nominated to answer.
3. Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
4. Go to their page and tell them.

Here are the questions that Imogen set for me:

What is your favourite thing about blogging?

There are loads of things I like about blogging, but primarily I love being able to share my artwork with a larger audience than I might have been able to without a blog. It's always nice to be able to get some feedback on my illustrations. I also love finding new blog's to follow, especially if they are related to art! I found one of my favourite Illustrator's through blogging, and you can check out his blog here

What is the story behind your blog's name?

Well, unfortunately my blog name is quite boring and literal!

What advice would you give to new blogger's?

I would say the most important thing is to keep your blog original and only post content which you are passionate about. I think it's also really vital to find blog's to follow, and make sure to leave plenty of comments on other blog's, that way people will be able to find you!

What do you hope to achieve from your blog?

I primarily hope to share my art with a wider audience, and find out about other new artists. I'm always on the lookout for new blog's to follow.

If you could possess any skill, what would it be and why?

I'd actually really like to be able to play the piano. When I was little I wanted to be an X-Man though, so some sort of supernatural ability would always be welcome!

Favourite type of craft to do/look at?

Well, obviously painting is my favourite craft to do! I love looking at handmade jewellery though - I'm a bit of a magpie when it comes to things like that. I found a really nice Etsy store called Plumeuphoria, which is run by a girl called Nicole. She makes the most awesome jewellery, I especially love the ear cuffs.

If you could live in a world from a book or a film, what would it be?

This is a tough one, but I suppose I would choose Harry Potter. I loved reading the books when I was younger, and would definitely love to study at Hogwarts! Charms class certainly sounds more appealing than Maths!

Do you have any habits, good or bad?

I've had a habit since I was little, and that's twirling with my hair - I don't really know why!

What is your favourite thing to bake or cook?

I really like to cook Italian roast potatoes - basically just mini roast potatoes with some garlic and herb, but they are so delicious and easy to make!

What would your dream house look like, inside and out?

I'd like to live in an old fashioned cottage with wooden floors throughout, and lots of oak furniture. If it had a little art studio that would be perfect.

Describe your perfect day.

It would have to start with a big cooked breakfast! Then it would probably just be hanging out with my boyfriend, playing some games. I'm fairly boring!

There you go! The blog I would love to nominate is Glitter Detector, which is run by a lovely girl called Marta. Hers is the first blog that popped into my head when I received this award. You can check out her blog here

Now for my 11 questions:

1. What inspired you to start blogging in the first place, and what do you enjoy most about the blogging community?
2. What is the most recent movie you saw and which movie are you most looking forward to seeing?
3. What was your favourite childhood book or story?
4. If you could have any pet, which would you choose?
5. What is your favourite thing to blog about?
6. What is your favourite beauty product?
7. Where would you most like to travel to?
8. What was/is your favourite subject to study?
9. Do you have any unusual hobbies or talents?
10. I'm a big chocoholic, what is your favourite treat?
11. What is your favourite season/holiday of the year?

Once again, I'd like to thank Imogen for nominating me!

Dolly

This is just a little something I finished a couple of days ago, again based on Fairy Kei inspired fashion. I added a little bunny to her shoulder purely because I love rabbits, and I thought it would make the overall image extra cute.

Anita

This is just something simple based on a photo I found a little while ago and thought it would make a cute illustration. I really loved the floaty arms of the dress. I added a few little jewels around the eyes as this is a trend I've seen on a couple of blogs lately, and I actually really like it.

Tuesday 2 October 2012

Strawberry Princess

This was primarily inspired by some Fairy Kei pictures I found. It seems that these type of floral crowns are really popular at the moment, and I think they are pretty cute.

Friday 28 September 2012

Lime & Pink Celia

Both of these are inspired by a blogger I recently found; I really love all of her hair colours! She currently has grey/blue hair and her blog can be found here if you wanted to check it out.

Saturday 22 September 2012

Cassie

I really love this shade of lilac hair at the moment.

Saturday 15 September 2012

Penelope

Just some random cuteness on a Saturday. I added some little pom-pom mittens as the weathers getting slightly chillier now.

Bunny Kiss

Just some more bunnies - I added a little peach heart to each of them.

Fairy

The sun is actually shining here lately, such a nice surprise. I was pretty disappointed with 'Summer' as it mostly rained. I've been working on a few commissions for Michelle over at Jelly Button Jewellery this week - please check out her website here! All of her pieces are cute, quirky, and affordable. I especially like the marshmallow flump bracelet.

Tuesday 28 August 2012

Drew

I'm really inspired by everything pastel at the moment, despite the fact that Summer is pretty much over! It's such a shame that we didn't get much good weather. It's actually been thundering and lightning here for the past couple of days. Maybe September will be nice!

Alessi's Ark

This is the CD cover I designed for an illustration competition over on Creative Allies. I'm really happy with how it turned out, so if any of you would like to vote for me, then I'd really appreciate it a lot!

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Some more cuteness for you this Wednesday! I thought I would do an animal inspired illustration but I wanted to keep it a little subtle so I just added ears. I think the Lynx girl is my favourite.

Peaches & Icecream

Here is a little illustration I finished this morning, partly inspired by all the cute 'ice cream' jewellery that I have been seeing around. I thought it would be fun to do a summery drawing seeing as the weather has picked up drastically as of late!

If you fancy picking up some adorable ice cream jewellery, then check out this awesome little ring I found on this Etsy store.

Blogs I like - Ever so Juliet

I found Juliet's blog a little while ago, and since then have been an avid reader. I would encourage you all to go and have a little look, as she posts about a wide range of things, so there really is something for everyone! Juliet also has the best hair around with her wicked blonde streak - so awesome! I loved illustrating her.

Katy

I finished this little illustration this morning, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. It's inspired by Katy Perry (I'm sure you all realised that though!) - I thought it would be fun to illustrate her seeing as her new film has just been released.

I love her new purple hair, she seems to be able to pull off pretty much any colour! I also included her amazing red velvet dress which I think she wore at the premiere.

Let me know what you think!

Bright Eyes

Well, it looks as if the bad weather is going to continue for the rest of July, which is a shame! I don't mind some cold weather, but I absolutely hate the constant showers. Maybe we'll finally get some sunshine in August.

This is an illustration I finished a little while ago, and again I have focused on the pastel hair trend! She reminds me a little of Heather from Effie's Make up Box (this was completely unintentional, but Heather always looks really great, so I'm happy).

Hope you guys like it.

Game of Thrones Girls

You may have seen my Khaleesi illustration that I posted a little while ago, well I decided that I would add some of the other characters to my collection! I thought it would be nice to add some of the women from the other famous houses, so I drew Sansa Stark, and Cersei Lannister. I know these aren't necessarily  well liked characters, but they have started to grow on me a bit, and Sansa seems to hate Joffrey as much as I do!

I also decided to add the family motto to each illustration, and I'm really happy with how it looks.

I hope you like these too.

Just a quick post to show you this illustration I finished at the end of last week. It's inspired by the model Lindsey Wixson who I think looks really interesting. I hope you all like it!

Little Yolandi

I'm sure many of you will be familiar with South African band Die Antwoord - they are certainly a little different. I'm not really sure what to make of them to be quite honest! A lot of people have been talking about Yolandi lately, so I decided to do a little illustration of her.

I hope you all like it, and if you are into Die Antwoord, then you should check out Jack Parow for more insanity!

Sleeper

Just a quick little post to show you this new digital illustration that I did yesterday. I really like the pastel hair trend that has become so popular at the moment, so I thought I'd give her some nice minty hair.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

I just wanted to announce that the winner of my print giveaway is the lovely Marta who runs Glitter Detector. I think it's quite cute that she won, because a little while back I won her Lip Tar giveaway! I hope you will have a little look at her blog because she's a genuinely nice girl.

Blogs I Like: Bubble my Licorice

Bubble my Licorice is a fashion and lifestyle blog created by two girls, Gracie and Daphne, who are from Athens, Greece. I discovered their blog a little while ago, and I always really enjoy reading, as they have a great variety of posts, and the fact that there is two contributors means there is a lot more diversity of content. Also, check out how awesome their hair is! Gracie used to have pastel pink hair, but she's recently dyed it bright blue, and I think I like it even more now.

Check out their blog here

X-Men Girls

I've always been a really big fan of X-Men - does anybody else remember watching the cartoon as a child? My favourites were Rogue and Gambit, so that's why Rogue gets to be the centrepiece of this illustration! I'm hoping they have some more films in the works because I love them too (apart from Last Stand which just seemed a bit underwhelming). Anyway, I hope you all like this little illustration. Feel free to let me know if there's any particular characters you would like me to draw.

Blogs I like...Pastelbat

This is a blog I have only recently discovered but I already love it. Pastelbat describes her blog as a mixture of "cute and creepy" which is awesome! If you are interested in Lolita or Japanese inspired fashion, then I would definitely recommend stopping by. She always has the most amazing outfits, with a great collection of patterned tights - including the bat ones in my illustration. I really adore all of her accessories too - I think they make each outfit look extra unique and interesting.

I hope you'll all check out her blog!

Wildfox #2

The Wildfox blog is a continual source of inspiration for me. I love looking through Kim's photo's, and when I saw this, I knew I had to draw it! I think the model is called Amanda Booth, and they seem to feature her quite a lot lately. I'm sure many of you are big fans of Wildfox, so I hope you like this.
